25 of the Best New Albums of 2023 (So Far)

After listening to more than 250 albums in under six months, I’d like to think I’ve got a decent handle on the best music that’s been released in 2023 so far.

To make sure all that hard work doesn’t go to waste (though to be fair, it was done in service of my upcoming newsletter, which you should totally subscribe to if you like music), I want to share those insights with you.

This list consists of 25 albums that, if you haven’t had a chance to hear yet, I highly recommend adding to your streaming queue of choice. Or, if you’re like me and still insist on collecting physical media, tracking down the vinyl, CD, or cassette from a local record store in your area is a rad idea too.

One note before I get started: This is not a ranked list (i.e., the №1 album is the best album). Like the theme of my newsletter, these are all playlist- or listening lounge-worthy in my eyes. Which ones are better than others will be up to you to decide.
